
Post-Doctoral Researcher, The AI Lab - Demokritos
Denia Kanellopoulou holds a Diploma (M.Eng.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an M.Sc. in Management and Economics of Telecommunication Networks and a Ph.D. in Wireless Telecommunications both from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since 2009, she has been working in research, engineering and management roles in high-impact large organisations in Greece (NCSR Demokritos, HEDNO, etc.), in Europe (ESA, University of Luxembourg) and as a freelancer.
Currently, at Demokritos, she focuses on advancing innovation through the application of AI research and serves as the Head of Innovation within the Intelligent Information Systems (IIS) Division Board. She belongs to the core team of ahedd Digital Innovation Hub (DIH), where she analyses business needs and creates innovative solutions to drive digital transformation and enhance competitiveness. Her contributions have been instrumental in the establishment of key initiatives, including Smart Attica European Digital Innovation Hub, Giga Campus by Vodafone & Demokritos, the Demokritos-Qualco Fellowship Program, ahedd’s AI Training Programs for Business Executives, 1000 Pioneers for AI in Greece, and fostering numerous partnerships with both national and international businesses and organizations. She actively engages in fundraising, ecosystem development, and policy-making activities, including governmental working groups, the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), the European Digital SME Alliance and engagement with various DIH networks.
