Stavros Pitoglou is the Chief Technical Officer as well as head of R&D of Computer Solutions SA in which he has been working since 2003. He graduated from the Department of Physics of the University of Patras. Since 2004 he has participated as Project Director and Senior Project Manager in many large-scale projects in the fields of Health IT/Medical Informatics, as well as in Enterprise Resource Management of Public Organizations. He organized and coordinated diverse teams, especially for the implementation of European projects under the EU Support Frameworks and the NSRF (Regions of Attica, Thessaly, Ionian Islands, Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Court of Auditors of Greece, KETHEA, etc.). He laid the groundwork for transforming the company into a respected research entity by establishing the R&D department in 2013. Since then, head of this department, he oversees several internal research projects in the fields of Chronic Disease Monitoring, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Biosensors and Computer Vision & Image Processing. Since 2018 he has served as coordinator and team leader in a number of national and European co-funded research and innovation projects. He is a PhD candidate at the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) – EMBS Society, member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes and certified HL7 Control Specialist by HL7 International. His research interests focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in the field of Health Informatics, distributed networks and data security-privacy.
