IRHIS (Interoperable Remote Health Innovation brought to Scale) is an ambitious European project funded under the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) programme. It aims to accelerate the upscale and adoption of advanced remote health innovations and innovators across the EU, focusing on three critical areas of remote care: musculoskeletal rehabilitation, neurological disorder treatment, and critical patient conditions such as intensive care monitoring. The project leverages cutting-edge AI-powered solutions, sensor technologies, wearable devices, and remote monitoring tools to enable personalised, data-driven clinical pathways and improve patient outcomes.
Through its activities, IRHIS will create three Interregional DemoScale Labs, demonstrating and validating at scale eight breakthrough health technologies developed by SMEs and innovators from less developed and transition regions. These demonstrations will involve over 1,000 patients across Europe, generating real-world evidence and supporting the market uptake of these solutions. Additionally, IRHIS will address interoperability challenges by ensuring cross-device integration and compliance with European health data regulations and standards.
The consortium brings together leading innovation clusters, research centres, hospitals, and SMEs from Lithuania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain, combining clinical expertise with advanced digital health capabilities. Overall, IRHIS will strengthen regional innovation ecosystems, support cross-border collaboration, and enhance the competitiveness of European health tech SMEs, contributing to equitable access to high-quality care services and fostering resilience in European health systems.
